Bilberry

In Northern Europe and the Baltic states Pharmeko collects Bilberries, which are edible berries. Raw berries like Vaccinium myrtillus, are known for their phytochemicals, most importantly polyphenols like anthocyanins.

Used in both food and pharmaceutical industries, the bilberry is collected and selected from Pharmeko to provide a product that is able to meet the different demands about quality.

Vaccinium myrtillus contains anthocyanosides in a concentration ranging from 0.1 to 0.25% in fresh fruit, flavonoids, pectin, vitamin C and tannins. Its extracts act as antioxidants and free radical scavenger, inhibit platelet aggregation, decrease vascular permeability and improve venous tone and blood flow.
